You may already know exactly the type of ceremony you’d like, you
may have a few ideas that need developing, or you may not have thought
about it yet and be looking for inspiration and a nudge in the right
direction.
I like to keep things simple and relaxed. Here is an idea as to how we could work together.
1. RESPONSE TO YOUR ENQUIRY
We have an introductory, no obligation, chat about the logistics of your wedding day. This can be by phone or face to face. I’ll get a feeling for the type of ceremony you’re looking for and the scope of what you require. You can also ask me to include suggestions for venues and recommend other wedding services and suppliers. You confirm your booking with me when you feel comfortable to do so.
2. FIRST MEETING
We meet to discuss your ceremony in more detail.
If you would like some ideas for the structure and nature of ceremony, I have some specific questions to facilitate discussion; it can be hard to know where to start! You will really start thinking about the style of ceremony and words that are important for you. Depending how organized and planned you want to be in advance, I recommend this meeting three months prior to your wedding day.
If you have your ceremony already planned, this meeting will be
shorter. We will go through the details and make any adjustments in
line with legal requirements.
3. FINALISING CEREMONY STRUCTURE AND CONTENT
We will have agreed to a timeframe for having the ceremony structure and content finalized. Following our first meeting I will draft an order of service and the content for you. You will have plenty of opportunity to make any changes until you feel comfortable with the ceremony. This is generally by phone and email.
4. SECOND MEETING / REHEARSAL
If you are having a rehearsal (and if logistics allow), it’s great for me to attend. Otherwise we have a second meeting to go through exactly the order of service, including timing, music, where we’re standing etc. You also need to give me the two copies of your marriage license at this point.
5. THE CEREMONY
I will arrive in plenty of time and do a final check that everything is set up. After you sign the Marriage Register and at the conclusion of the ceremony I am responsible for ensuring the paperwork gets sent off. I will also leave you with your copy of the Particulars of Marriage and your ceremony wording.
